Industrial pump control-panel replacement near Reading

Alton Pumps replaced a 415V three-phase single-pump control panel and three float switches at an industrial site in West Berkshire before testing the system and leaving it working in automatic mode.

Project completed March 2026

The control requirement

The agreed work was to supply and install a new 415V single-pump control panel together with three new float switches.

The existing equipment arrangement created a practical constraint: removing the old panel would have required surrounding electrical equipment to be moved, so the redundant enclosure was retained in place.

Panel and float-switch replacement

The engineering work replaced the three-phase single-pump panel and all three floats. Because the existing duct was cemented, the available float cable was reused and its cores were configured to connect the third float.

The completed job record notes that a new duct would be required if the cable route between the chamber and manhole needs replacement in future.

Recorded outcome

  • New 415V panel installed: the three-phase single-pump control panel was replaced.
  • Three floats replaced: the level-control float switches were renewed and connected.
  • Existing constraint managed: the redundant panel and available cable route were retained where removal would have expanded the electrical and civils scope.
  • System tested: the completed installation was recorded as working correctly.
  • Automatic operation: the system was left in auto at handover.
