The pump station requirement
The Surrey education site required a replacement pump and new fittings so the pump arrangement could be positioned upright within the chamber.
The completed work also addressed the float position, which needed to be kept clear of the pumps to prevent it becoming caught during operation.
Pump, pipework and float repair
The engineering team replaced the pump and associated pipework, then positioned both pumps upright in the chamber.
The float location was changed so it would not catch on the pumps. Both pumps were then tried and tested before being left working in automatic mode.
Recorded outcome
- Pump replaced: the planned replacement pump was installed.
- Pipework renewed: associated pipework and fittings were replaced to support the upright arrangement.
- Pumps positioned upright: both pumps were left upright within the chamber.
- Float moved clear: its location was changed to prevent it catching on the pumps.
- Automatic operation restored: both pumps were tried, tested and left working in auto.
