How we fix or replace a booster pump

  1. Check the system

We check the pump, pressure vessel, pressure settings, pipework and the water supply to the pump.

  2. Explain the options

Repair, part replacement or a new pump. You get a written quote before any work starts.

  3. Install

New pumps are matched to the existing duty and installation, with new flexible hoses or vessels where needed.

  4. Test

We set the pressures, test the system and send you a report with photos.

Why booster pumps cycle on and off

A booster pump that starts and stops very often is usually a sign of a problem with the pressure vessel, such as lost air charge or a failed membrane. A small leak or a faulty pressure switch can do the same. Left alone, rapid cycling wears the pump out early.

We work on all makes of booster pump and booster set, including Grundfos, DAB, Lowara, Wilo and Ebara. Where a set has failed, we can fit a like-for-like replacement matched to the existing duty.

Questions

Booster pump installation and repair: common questions

Why does my booster pump keep switching on and off?

The most common cause is a pressure vessel that has lost its air charge or has a failed membrane. A leak in the system or a faulty pressure switch can also cause it. An engineer can check which.

Can you replace my booster pump like for like?

Yes. We match the replacement to the existing duty and installation where that is the right choice, or recommend a better-suited pump if the old one was wrong for the job.

Which booster pump brands do you work on?

All makes, including Grundfos, DAB, Lowara, Wilo and Ebara. We are independent and not an authorised agent for any manufacturer.

Do you work on booster sets in flats and commercial buildings?

Yes. We work on booster pumps and sets for homes, blocks of flats, schools and commercial buildings.

What details help you quote?

Photos of the pump, its data plate and the pressure vessel, the site postcode and a short description of the problem.
