The call-out
The call-out was for a pump alarm that was flashing. When the engineer arrived, the chamber was full.
Checking the pumps
The pumps were lifted and no blockages were found. The junction box on the pump cables was wet.
The repair
A new junction box and gel were fitted. The chamber was then pumped down to level, and the pumps did not trip again.
A further fault
The engineer also found that the pump switchover does not work properly. It tries to switch, but switches back to pump 2. Pump 1 works correctly when run in hand. This was recorded in the job report.
Recorded outcome
- Cause found: a wet junction box on the pump cables.
- Repair: a new junction box and gel.
- Result: the chamber was pumped down to level, with no further tripping.
- Further fault recorded: the switchover returns to pump 2.
