Signs your sewage pump needs attention

  • The high-level alarm is sounding or flashing
  • The pump trips the electrics or the control panel
  • The pump runs but the water level does not drop
  • The pump runs all the time, or starts and stops very often
  • New noise, rattling or vibration from the chamber
  • Smells from the chamber or slow drains in the property

How we repair a sewage pump

  1. Make it safe

We check the chamber level and the electrics first, so the system cannot flood or trip again while we work.

  2. Find the cause

Floats, non-return valves, blockages from wipes and fat, worn impellers, water in the motor or cable, and control-panel faults are all checked.

  3. Repair or replace

We explain what we found and the options. You get a written quote before any work starts. If a repair is not worth it, we fit a like-for-like or better-matched pump.

  4. Test and report

The pumps are tested in automatic mode, the alarm is checked, and you get a report with photos for your records.

Repair or replace?

It depends on the pump's age and condition, whether parts are still available and whether it is the right size for the job. A pump that has been pulling too much current, has water in the motor or has a cracked casing is often better replaced.

We work on all makes, including Grundfos, Wilo, KSB, Flygt, Xylem, Sulzer, Lowara, Ebara, DAB, Pedrollo, Tsurumi and Zoeller. We are independent, so we recommend the pump that suits your system, not one brand.

Questions

Sewage pump repair: common questions

What should I do if my sewage pump alarm goes off?

Use as little water as you can: avoid flushing, showers, baths, dishwashers and washing machines. Do not keep resetting the pump and do not climb into the chamber. Check whether the power to the pump or control panel has tripped, then call 01420 403000.

Can you repair any make of sewage pump?

Yes. We work on all makes and we are not an authorised agent for any manufacturer, so we can repair or replace whatever is installed.

Is it better to repair or replace a sewage pump?

It depends on the age and condition of the pump, parts availability and whether it suits the job. We find the fault first, explain the options and give you a written quote before any work starts.

Why does my sewage pump keep tripping?

Common causes are a blockage around the impeller, a worn or failing motor, water getting into the motor or cable, or a fault in the control panel. An engineer can test the pump and panel to find which.
