The agreed work
The job was to replace an existing pumping system. The agreed work included the following.
- Remove all the old components, and remove the liquid and sludge with a waste tanker.
- Build a two pump manifold in DN100 ductile iron, with DN100 isolation valves, gate valves and non-return valves.
- Fit two duck foot bends on newly built plinths and connect them to the new valves.
- Supply and install two new Grundfos pumps as specified.
- Bring the two pipes back into one and connect to the existing discharge.
- Supply ultrasonic controls and a GSM text alert alarm.
- Test, commission and leave the system in full working order.
Preliminary works and installation
Preliminary works were carried out on 28 October 2025. The main installation took place on 11, 12 and 15 December 2025. The old system was removed and replaced with a new tank, pumps and pipework.
Testing
The system was tested several times and was working as it should. It was left in automatic.
Ground water
The engineers noted that a lot of ground water is getting into the system. They suggested a survey to find out where it is coming from.
Recorded outcome
- Old system removed: the old components, liquid and sludge were removed.
- New system installed: a new tank, new pumps and new DN100 pipework and valves.
- Tested: several times, working as it should and left in automatic.
