The work required
The agreed work was to supply and install a new 415V twin pump control panel (4 to 6 amp), two new JS 1.5 kW 415V pumps, two Flygt adapter claws (small blue type), two Flygt top brackets, four guide rail poles and four float switches.
What was installed
The engineers installed the new panel, the two pumps with their Flygt adapter claws and top brackets, four new guide rail poles and four new float switches.
What testing found
Once everything was installed, the engineers tested the system. They found that the pipework inside the valve chamber had split beyond the shut-off valve. That is why the valve chamber fills with water when it should not.
Recommendation
The split is very close to the chamber wall, so it may be necessary to dig beside the valve chamber, and it may not be possible to connect onto sound metal inside the chamber. The engineers reported that all of the pipework in the chamber would benefit from replacement, because it is badly corroded.
No flow, head or power-performance figures were recorded for this job, so none are claimed.
Recorded outcome
- Control panel installed: a new 415V twin pump panel (4 to 6 amp).
- Pumps and fittings installed: two JS 1.5 kW 415V pumps with Flygt adapter claws and top brackets.
- Guide rails and floats: four new guide rail poles and four new float switches.
- Fault found on test: split pipework in the valve chamber, with replacement of the old pipework recommended.
