Water filter and ultraviolet unit on a private borehole supply near Farnham

When to call us about a borehole pump

  • No water, or a weak flow from the borehole
  • The pump cuts out, trips or keeps stopping
  • The pressure gauge reads low or swings about
  • The old pump or pipework needs replacing
  • The filter or ultraviolet unit is old and needs upgrading
  • You are not sure how deep the water is or how the system is arranged

How a borehole job works

  1. Survey the borehole

We record the water level with and without the pump, the total depth, and how quickly the borehole empties and refills.

  2. Check the supply

We look at the storage tank, filter, ultraviolet unit, pressure gauge and controls that go with the pump.

  3. Explain the options

Repair, a new pump, new pipework or a filtration upgrade. You get a free written quote before any work starts.

  4. Install and report

We fit the agreed equipment, test the supply and send you a report with photos.

What a borehole survey records

On one recent survey near Farnham, the water level was 24 metres without the pump and 23.4 metres with it in, and the borehole was 27.5 metres deep. It took one to two minutes to empty and 15 to 20 minutes to refill. The borehole pump filled a 2,500 litre tank, and the water then passed through a filter and an ultraviolet unit to the house.

Numbers like these tell us whether the pump is the right size and whether the borehole can keep up. We work on all makes, including Grundfos, DAB and Wilo, and we are independent.
